Volunteer Lawyer Program Coordinator

Prairie State Legal Services, Inc. is seeking applicants for the position of VOLUNTEER LAWYER PROGRAM COORDINATOR in its ST. CHARLES office. The position will serve a four-county area. Prairie State is a 90-attorney legal aid program with 12 offices serving 36 counties in northern and central ILLINOIS outside of Cook County. Prairie State has a vibrant volunteer program to supplement the work of its paid staff. Many of Prairie State’s offices have a staff member who coordinates the Volunteer Lawyer Program; the Coordinator helps set the tone for the volunteer services from that office. The Coordinator is the face of Prairie State with many community lawyers and is interacting with various segments of the legal community.

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will be creative, flexible, and self-motivated; have excellent written and oral communication skills; and be able to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with pro bono volunteers. Interest in and commitment to assisting low-income individuals in the resolution of their legal problems. Successful candidate must have strong communication and organizational skills. Experience in law office practice or volunteer coordination is desirable. Bachelor’s degree required; Spanish-speaking is a plus.
