1/13/2015 In Memory of Col. Thomas Hamlin

Colonel Thomas Michael Hamlin, USMC, Ret., beloved member of Prairie State’s Waukegan office staff for many years, passed away on January 13, 2015.

Tom served in the Marines for 32 years, where he received the prestigious Defense Superior Service Medal and twice was recognized with the Legion of Merit honor. When Tom retired from the Marines, he and his wife Ann moved to Lake Bluff. Tom earned a paralegal certificate and began to volunteer at Prairie State in 1987.  After a few years as a volunteer, Tom began working for the office full time as a staff member.  Tom personified hard work and respect.  These same characteristics which likely contributed to his success in the Marine Corps made him a very effective advocate for our clients.  Tom worked hard for every client, treated every client with the consummate respect no matter the client’s situation, and was a fierce advocate on each case.

Prairie State sends condolences to Tom’s wife Ann, who also volunteered with the office in Waukegan as librarian, and to the entire Hamlin family.
