Bringing a Family Together

Meet Monique, a dedicated mother and grandmother. Monique has cared for her grandson, J’Varion, since he was born. She became J’Varion’s legal guardian after her daughter – J’Varion’s mother – passed away. Monique needed to adopt J’Varion to create stability for his future. So, she applied for PSLS services. PSLS’ pro bono team connected Monique with PSLS volunteer attorney John Heil Jr. through our pro bono community partnership with Heyl Royster law firm in Peoria. John led Monique through her legal adoption journey, drafting the required documents to present the petition for adoption at a court hearing. Thanks to the high-quality legal services provided by PSLS, John successfully represented Monique when she recently adopted J’Varion!
