A mother escaping domestic abuse, a family facing eviction, or a veteran losing her benefits: by giving to Prairie State Legal Services, you partner with our attorneys and staff to serve your neighbors most in need. Below are just a few of the ways you can partner with us:

MONTHLY GIFTS

By giving monthly, you demonstrate your continued commitment to our mission of providing equal access to justice. When you give monthly, your chosen amount will be automatically deducted from your account on the date of your choice.

ANNUAL PARTNERSHIPS/ SPONSORSHIPS

Corporate sponsors fund PSLS' mission through various annual partnerships and sponsorship opportunities. To join the 2023 Lawyers for Justice Campaign, support local PSLS events, or learn more, please contact Director of Resource Development Jennifer Luczkowiak at jluczkowiak@pslegal.org.

MATCHING-GIFT PROGRAMS

If your employer matches gifts, you may be able to double or even triple your donation. Matching-gift programs often match all or a percentage of employee donations to charitable organizations. Contact your employer’s human resources to learn if they offer a matching-gift program.

You can promote Prairie State by liking us on Facebook or by following us on Instagram and Twitter. When you share our posts, you promote our mission of providing equal access to justice by introducing your family and friends to the services we provide to their neighbors in need. You can also create a social media fundraiser on our behalf.

PLANNED GIFTS

A bequest provision is a simple statement in your will that gives to Prairie State any one of the following:

  • A specific dollar amount,
  • A specified percentage of your estate,
  • A particular piece of real estate (such as a home or commercial building),
  • Valuable personal property, such as a work of art.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are donations to Prairie State Legal Services tax-deductible?

Yes, contributions are tax-deductible; Prairie State Legal Services is a charitable organization under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3).

Will I receive confirmation of my donation?

Each donation is acknowledged in a letter shortly after receipt of the gift. Every year in January we send each donor a summary of all gifts made by the donor in the previous year.

Can I make a donation in support of my local PSLS office?

When possible, Prairie State directs donations to the local service office in the community where the donations originate. You may direct your gift to an office outside of your community by indicating the office of your choice.

How are donations recognized?

All donations are recognized in the Annual Report. Donations made through the Campaign for Legal Services are often recognized at Campaign events, in bar association journals and sometimes in local newspapers. Gifts may be made in honor or in memory of friends, family or colleagues. Requests to remain anonymous are also honored.
