Prairie State Legal Services, Inc., is seeking a Grants Accounting Manager to join our team in the Administration office. The Grants Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting the Finance Director in the development and management of grants accounting staff, the creation, implementation, and monitoring of grant accounting processes through collaboration with other PSLS departments. The Grants Accounting Manager is responsible for monitoring the work of the Grants Accounting Team to ensure that grant accounting staff follow proper accounting processes, and for working with the Finance Director to identify, create, implement, and evaluate improvements/corrections to grant accounting processes and performance.

Responsibilities
Among other duties as assigned, the Grants Accounting Manager will:

  • Lead the Grants Accounting Team in developing, implementing, and monitoring grant processes and procedures in all relevant PSLS business software
  • Train and provide oversight to the Grants Accounting Team on established processes and procedures
  • Ensure all PSLS grants have standardized grant reports and related procedures
  • Review grant application support, including budgets, grant reports, and other materials as assigned by the Finance Director
  • Work closely with the Finance Director and Controller to coordinate grant and other relevant accounting systems and processes in the Finance Department
  • Assist the Director of Finance with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new department employees
  • Provide daily supervision and leadership to the Grants Accounting staff
  • Maintain a reduced Grants Accounting Portfolio consistent with the Grant Accountant job description expectations

Salary and Benefits
The Grants Accounting Manager position is full-time, at 37.5 hours per week. PSLS offers a salary competitive with similar organizations. The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $98,078 annually. The starting salary for the successful candidate will be determined based on prior relevant experience. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of experience in Grant Accounting
  • People leadership/supervision experience strongly preferred
  • Able to successfully perform job responsibilities primarily autonomously and has demonstrated expertise in a particular area
  • Consistently complies with all PSLS policies
  • Demonstrated leadership and excellent collaboration with team members within and between departments
  • Strong computer competency, including the ability to use Access and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Familiarity with database software and proven track record of creating and modifying software to produce results
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of organization, time management, and to meet deadlines consistently
  • Excellent analytical skills and sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong oral/written communication
  • Some travel is necessary; valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation is required
